Why I Write

I  started this blog to chronicle my story about becoming a triathlete.  After I cross the finish-line at my first triathlon, I know that my memories about this journey will fade.

The Nation’s Triathlon takes a picture of everyone that crosses the finish line and gives them a medal.  While that’s nice, those things will only remind me of that day. I will take pride in having completed a triathlon, but I want to remember the blood, sweat, and tears I shed to reach that finish-line. I hope this blog will be something tangible I can point to and say I did that.

It’s true that I could write my story and keep it private and to myself.  I publish my goals and my experience as a way to keep myself accountable.  I have no realistic expectation that others will read my story.  I use the fact that someone could read my story to remind myself that I should never quit.
